Karthickeyan Duraisamy

Founder and Chair, Academy for Public Health

Karthickeyan is a Medical Doctor with an interest in Public health Reasearch. He received his degrees in Medicine and Surgery from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, India. Karthickeyan also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health. He did his Fellowship in HIV Medicine jointly conducted by International Training Education Center on Health, University of Washington and CDC, Atlanta-USA at Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine, Chennai, India.

He has worked for WHO Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) Technical Support Network (TSN) for over five years in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep. He has implemented several innovative interventions for the improvement of TB patients in the state of Kerala, such as introducing the decentralised model of treatment for multi-drug resistant TB patients, providing nutritional support to MDR-TB and HIV co-infected patients, pilot testing the practical approach to the lung health initiative and TB-Diabetes coordination.

He has modified and implemented Structured Operational Research and Training IniTiative (SORT IT) / WHO-TDR in the field of Non-Communicable Diseases.

Thaddeus Alfonso

Co-Founder and General Secretary, Academy for Public Health

Thaddeus Alfonso, a public health consultant with 13 years of experience, has consulted with WHO, UNICEF, USAID, European Union, APAC, TAI, TNHSP, TANSACS, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), and NACO. His work majorly focuses on public health and behavioral research/ program design, development, implementation, data analysis, documentation, policy development, capacity building, and impact evaluation.

He is a visiting faculty at the National Institute of Epidemiology and Govt. Stanley Medical College – Chennai. He was an invited speaker to deliver special lectures at NIMHANS- Bangalore and Tribhuvan University – Nepal.

He has in his credit a research papers, chapter in book and articles on health and palliative care.

He has supported for the implementation of Structured Operational Research and Training IniTiative (SORT IT) / WHO-TDR in the field of Non-Communicable Diseases.
